one night getaway

Do you ever have those days that you didn't realize you needed a getaway until you feel that you have no choice but to? Last Saturday was like that for me. Shannon has a friend named Monica who I haven't seen since I was probably 15; it has been sometime. Her and her fiance came over to Shannon's house for some good cajun style cooking. After learning a new card game called pinnacle with Shannon, her mother, grandmother, and Monica while the T.V. played some sports for easy male entertainment, Monica asks us to both go to her beach house for the night. Her fiance takes to surfing and she wanted girl company. I of course had a million reasons why I probably couldn't come. Monica was so wonderful in the way she shot down each one of my once believed real excuses as not a problem. With a few words of encouragements Monica had Shannon and I packing our bags (and my dog Emme!!). I got my own room to sleep in along with my pooch. The next day was filled with fun but only a little sun. Despite the weather we jumped around water, rode some frenzied waves, and sat on the beach laughing the day away. All in all I am so thankful I went. It was the perfect spur of the moment getaway. I am especially glad to have reconnected with Monica. I will have to make sure to let her know how truly thankful I am for her generosity and hospitality.
